How to add an ova file in virtualbox 1

In this tutorial, we will show you how to add a .ova extension file in virtualbox. Here we have worked with the kali linux .ova file, however, the procedure is the same whatever the distribution used.To download the .ova image from kali linux, click here.



Download Kali Linux VMware and VirtualBox Images

Depending on your system, select the image you want to download. For this tutorial, we select the first image, by clicking Torrent. In the window that appears, click OK. The download starts and you can follow its evolution



Open Kali-Linux Torrent

You must now import this .ova extension file into a virtual machine. To do this, double-click the .ova file. In the window that appears, you will be able to modify the data according to what you want to obtain. Do not forget to check the "Reset the MAC address of all network cards" box, then click on Import. and Wait for the end of loading

you will notice in the window below that a new kali-linux vm has been imported:

Go to "settings" to change the settings of your virtual machine. In the window below, you notice at the bottom of the warning that will have to be corrected. 1- Go to "System" and decrease the size of the RAM. you can reduce it to 512 MB. 2- Go to "USB" and disable the USB 2.0 ports.



Kali Linux settings

Go to "Network", enable the Enable Network Adapter tab if you have not already, and select Bridged Adapter for the WAN interface. Finally, click OK. You can now start the startup of your virtual machine. In the authentication window that appears, username: root and subsequently the password: toor obtained from the site:
